The 2026 edition of the Cannon Beach Fat Bike Festival weekend starts on Friday, May 15th through Sunday, May 17th. Whether you’re a local, a regular, a fat bike geek, or making the trip to Oregon’s most iconic beach for the first time, here is what you need to know to make the most of the weekend.
The Fat Bike Festival is designed for all skill levels—if you can pedal a bike, you’re invited—Tip: pedaling on a fat bike makes biking on the beach so much easier! Here’s a sneak peek at the typical festival lineup.
What’s On the Schedule?
Friday, May 15: The Kickoff
Start the weekend right with a sunset ride. There’s nothing quite like cruising past Haystack Rock as the sky turns orange and pink. Usually, riders meet at Public Coast Brewing Co. for packet pickup and a social hour before hitting the sand.
Saturday, May 16: Adventure & Exploration
Fat Bike Adventure Tour: New for 2026, this "Choose Your Own Adventure" quest takes you through town and along the coast. Pick a themed path—like the Foodie Quest or Art & Soul Ride—to discover hidden gems and win prizes.
Beach Ride to Hug Point: This is the crown jewel of the weekend. A guided 13-mile round-trip ride timed perfectly with the low tide, allowing you to ride the "Oregon Beach Highway" all the way to the waterfall at Hug Point.
Beach Party & Games: Cap off Saturday at Tolovana Beach with fat bike limbo, giant Jenga, and local brews.

Are You Coming On Your Own Or Accompanied?
If you are accompanied by family and friends that do not plan to take part in the Fat Bike Fest, here are a few ideas of things to do in Cannon Beach during their visit from visiting the shops, walking in town and on the beach, hiking local state park trails, getting a surf session in or a lesson, horse riding, and biking around.
Honestly, we hope you convince them to join you. It’s a guaranteed source of laughter, it’s different, and memorable… oh and everyone will be jealous of your social media pics!
Speaking of social media, thank you for taking a moment to share your adventures and pictures on FunCycles Facebook and Instagram profiles.
Why Ride a Fat Bike You Ask?
If you’ve never ridden one before, you might wonder why the tires are so big, and what are the benefits. Those 4 plus inch tires allow you to "float" over soft sand where a regular cruisers, mountain bikes, and our famous funcycles will struggle a little more—unlike the fat tire bikes, these other types of bikes can only ride during low tide on packed sand. This turns the Oregon coastline into a big bike trail.
